The mental health system in Ontario is a complex system of services that has been chronically under-funded and under-resourced. Too many people continue to go without meaningful mental health services, with heartbreaking consequences. Slowly, mental health and mental health services are being recognized as important and less stigmatized.
The Mental Health Checkup aims to contribute positively to a piece of a much larger puzzle by making one aspect of preventative mental health services more accessible.
The Mental Health Checkup is a volunteer service that provides a free, one-time
psychotherapy session to anyone in the community who wishes to receive it.
Building capacity on an individual and community level to more effectively manage mental health.
Reducing stigma around mental health and creating space for normalizing mental health management, services and wellness.
Addressing mental health concerns early, before there is a crisis or urgent need for services, with the long term goal of contributing to our mental health system.
The Mental Health Checkup is NOT a crisis or urgent mental health service.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis/emergency,
please visit your nearest emergency department or call 911.
